Sub: Application in response to the study permit refused on July 27, 2022 (J830642820)
Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for allowing me another chance to present my case and reinstate my purpose of visiting Canada. I am an experienced professional who has developed an enthusiasm and confidence to establish my own construction company in India, which requires an exhaustive technical knowledge of project management that I currently need to gain due to my previous studies in engineering alone. Hence, I have decided to combine the two and solidify my positioning in construction management. I am also glad to share that I have received an unconditional offer letter to pursue a Graduate Certificate in Project Management from Algoma University. My course is set to begin in February 2023, but my last visa application was refused due to the following ground:
The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the details you have provided in your application.
Therefore, I aim to provide valid justification in support of my intent to visit Canada through this letter of explanation.
Motivation & Purpose of Visit
My reasons for visiting Canada are based on upgrading my academic skills and knowledge in project management. They are supported by my yearning to develop into a well-rounded expert. I have previously pursued a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering and a Post-Graduation in Marine Engineering. I have worked in Ship Management, Petroleum, Water Management, and Construction industries. Throughout my tenure, I worked as an execution Engineer and a Cost Engineer within the Construction domain. Hereunder, I worked on various projects overseeing project execution from start to end. Also, I played a vital role in the completion of a project. It indeed impacted my skill strength and provided me with a perspective to train myself in specialized project management certification.
If I ponder the potential of project management within the construction engineering domain, particularly in managerial roles in India, I find a vast progression along with qualitative exposure. I have yet to hold any specific project management qualification, hindering my promotion as a project manager. As a result, I sought guidance from my mentor and senior and have been guided to acquire a specialization in project management, which makes sense. After completing my certification in project management, my value in the construction industry will be manifold. I will be able to capitalize on my previous experience in a similar field to rise to the career ladder.
Why Canada and not India?
The Canadian educational system is competitive relative to similar institutions in English-speaking countries such as the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Furthermore, I will gain international exposure and internationally accredited qualifications, which are valuable in a country like ours. I am confident in applying for this course at Algoma University since Canada has a population of over 36 million individuals, including people from different cultural boundaries who are very friendly, helpful, and respect the cross-cultural environment.
Why not India: Irrespective of seeking higher education in India, I intend to conduct it from Canada due to the opportunity to get international exposure and a globally recognized certification. Also, the education system in my country is more theoretically inclined. However, in Canada, I will train myself in a more practical environment using simulation-based exercises and an opportunity to intern at elite organizations. Therefore, my studies in Canada will help me acquire a competitive edge in my home country.
Why Algoma University?
Comparing the programs at Algoma University with similar ones in my own country, this one is much more competitive and closer to my future aspirations. This is because it will give me an international degree to move up the corporate ladder, which is more valuable in our country. Algoma University is one of the largest educational institutes in Canada, having a well-equipped infrastructure, technologically advanced classrooms, and library support that convinces me to pursue my studies here. Also, it has eminent faculty on board, which includes industry leaders. Hence, I am eager to pursue my studies here and benefit from the world-class exposure that Algoma University provides to its students.
Why Project Management?
I have speculated about courses available in other countries as well. Because Algoma University offers a comprehensive curriculum, I would benefit most from this course. This program provided by Algoma University will equip me with the competitive skills necessary to overcome the day-to-day and complex challenges faced by project managers. I will study topics in Cross-Cultural Communication, Organizational Behaviour and Management, International Business Environment, Project Teams and Leadership, Human Resource Management and Development, Project Planning Essentials, Project Execution, Monitoring, Control, and Closing, Smart and Sustainable Cities, Advanced Project Management which interests me the most. A stronghold on these topics will prepare me holistically to outshine back home as I embrace working on projects and exhibit my vast practical handholding of critical project handling and management tasks. With the intricate learnings I will gain in this college, I will achieve success in my chosen field of construction project management upon my return home.
Reasons to return to India
Family ties
My strong family ties back to my reasons for returning to India. My family comprises my parents and one younger sister. My father is a retired Police officer, and my mother is a housewife. My sister is a yoga teacher, and she is employed with Cult Fit – the biggest chain for Hybrid Gyms in India. As my family has always supported me through thick and thin, I cannot imagine staying away from my family members longer. Hence, I will come back to my country soon after completing my studies in Canada. Also, because I have to look after my expanded movable and immovable properties, it adds to my reasons for returning home. My personal, as well as professional life in India is quite comforting. I will have to take care of my parents as my sister will get married soon and won’t live with us. As a son, I must be with them and make their senior years more comfortable. Hence, I will return home soon after the completion of my studies. I have no family ties in Canada; therefore, I am also not interested in overstaying or elongating my stay beyond authorization.
Career goals
Construction management is a vastly flourishing industry in India. Hence, I aim to develop technical expertise in a similar domain in the short run by utilizing my study experience at Algoma University. Soon after the completion of my studies in Canada, I will return to India so I can actualize my career aspirations and become an invincible part of construction project management. I want to work with renowned companies like L&T, GMR Group, TATA Projects, and Hindustan Construction Company (HCC). With my exposure, I will secure a position as Project Manager, Project Coordinator, or Analyst. Through this, I aim to improve my understanding of project planning significantly, defining performance criteria such as quality standards, risk management, cost requirements, deadlines, and leading projects. However, in the long run, I intend to utilize my global and industrial experience to sustain myself in the industry longer. I aim to head the entire department of projects in India and associate as a consultant with more prominent brand names.
Financial stability and payment plan
As I have a solid financial background, my father has decided to sponsor my education and living expenses in Canada. We have family savings of CAD 108,972.03 and a total annual family income of CAD 32,931. Adding to this, our immovable property is valued at up to CAD 937,312. As a result of this, I have submitted a sum of CAD 27058.70 in favor of the tuition fee and a sum of CAD 10,000 into the GIC account to cover my living expenses. I have attached my supporting financial documentation and proof of payment for your kind consideration, and this will provide a more positive image of me as a temporary immigrant student.
Language proficiency
To prove my English language proficiency, I have also taken the IELTS examination and passed it with an overall band score of 7.0. I scored 8.0 in Listening, 7.0 in Reading, 6.5 in Writing, and 6.5 individually. This convinces me of having a linguistically comfortable stay in Canada. Please find my IELTS scorecard for your kind review.
Conclusion
I assure you that I have familiarized myself with the Canadian Immigration Rules, and I promise to become a valuable addition to Canada’s rich cultural varsity. To begin my studies at Algoma University, I request a Canadian study permit based on my genuine intentions to visit Canada temporarily. I will be highly grateful to you.
Sincerely,
Sai Kishore Raju
